About Artificial Consequences

Artificial Consequences is an independent site that scores how realistically films, TV series, anime and games portray artificial intelligence. Each title gets a case file and a score on the AI Realism Index.

The question behind every case file is simple: if this technology existed, would the people, companies and governments in the story behave the way they do? Fiction about AI tends to focus on the machine. We pay as much attention to the people who build it, sell it, regulate it and live with it.

Who writes it

Case files are published under the Artificial Consequences name rather than individual bylines. Every score follows the same published method, so you can check the reasoning instead of taking anyone’s word for it.

Independence

The site is not affiliated with any studio, network, publisher or game developer. We do not accept payment for reviews or scores.

How we work

Our editorial policy covers how titles are chosen, what sources we use, how spoilers are handled and how scores are revised.

Get involved
